Expended Board Structure Accepted for Growth of CRC

Columbia Rowing Club voted on a new board structure, to better manage and support the members of the team. This structure expands on the number of active leaders which govern CRC. 

The original board structure and responsibilities were; 
President
* This position was responsible for presiding over meetings, signing contracts, call meetings, make decisions and is a member of all committees formed. 
Vice President
* This position was responsible for assisting the President and chairing the membership committee. 
Secretary
* This position was responsible for keeping records of the meetings, maintaining membership roll, conduct correspondence, and maintain official records.  
Treasurer
* This position was responsible for receiving and depositing all funds, pay bills, reporting the finances at the meetings, furnishing bonds as required, maintain USRowing membership of the club, and maintaining insurance policies. 
Directors (3)
* These positions were members with no defined responsibility other than to help lead and manage the club. These were 3 years positions with one new person chosen each year.

The new board structure and responsibilities are; 

President
* This board position is responsible for the overall management of the club. They run the monthly club meetings and make final decisions when the board cannot agree on an outcome. They shall be notified of all club occurrences and up to date on all happenings via the other board members. 
* This position has not changed from the original board structure.

Vice President
* This position is responsible for ensuring the safety of the club and its members and enforces policies and procedures as necessary. 
* This position has been modified from the original position. 

Secretary
* This board position is responsible for communications and promotions of the club. They will document the monthly club meetings and be responsible for general communication to the members. They will manage the website and social media presence of the club (Facebook and Twitter). 
* This position has been enhanced with a more clearly defined responsibilities, but not thoroughly changed from the original board structure. 

Treasurer 
* This board position is responsible for all club finances and coordinating fund raising. 
* This position has been enhanced to include fund raising, but not thoroughly changed form the original board structure.

Equipment Manager
* This board position is responsible for maintaining inventory, managing repairs, training members in regards to equipment use and care, and managing the boathouse. 
* This position has been added in lieu of a Directors position. 

Membership Liason
* This board position is responsible for recruiting and assisting members in joining CRC. They should hold multiple learn to row sessions through the year and should be responsible to inquiries about the club. 
* This position is an alteration of the previous Vice President position, and added in lieu of a Directors position. 

Masters Coordinator
* This board position is responsible for being the contact person for the masters competitive group. They are responsible for helping to organize practices and workouts, and signing the team up for regattas. 
* This is an addition to the board to maintain good communication with the masters competitive group, in lieu of a Directors position. 

Youth Coordinator
* This board position is responsible for being the contact person for the youth crew. They should be in close contact with the coach, team, and parents. 
* This is an addition to the board to maintain good communication with the youth group. 

USC Coordinator 
* This board position is responsible for being the contact person for the USC crew. They should be in close contact with the coach, team, and USC Crew Board. 
* This is an addition to the board to maintain good communication with the USC group. 

Adviser 
* This board position is responsible for giving overall guidance to the club. This candidate should have been a member of CRC for many years, and has held positions on the board for many years to have the knowledge and experience to assist in business and club management. 
* This is an alteration to previous president allowing any long standing and experienced member to provide guidance, and has been added to the board. 

These 10 positions will now make up the board of CRC who is responsible for the club, and are all voting positions as long as the members in these positions maintain their club membership, are active in the club and meetings, and fulfill their responsibilities as described above. 

Board/Club meetings are the third Thursday of each month at 6:00pm. We meet in the private room at Cafe Strudel on State Street in West Columbia. These meetings are open to the members of CRC. (Occasionally these meeting dates/locations are changed due to conflict. Check the calendar for the most recent information.)
